Each person was created with unique talents. The desire for recognition and significance is within each person. If it is not met in a positive way, it will be met in a negative one . Approval from the outside will not increase one’s self esteem, on it’s own. One needs to be expressing one’s unique destiny, in order to build one’s self esteem. First and foremost, one’s value has to be in God’s Love for one. If not, people will determine one’s value and one’s self esteem will not be stable. After one realizes that God loves one, then one needs to find one’s purpose. It is easy to find one’s purpose, on one hand.It is in what we love. Find your passion. What would you do for the pure love of the subject matter? What do you love doing, to such a degree, that you lose yourself in it? This is your passion.
Begin to do your passion, as a hobby. Throw yourself in to it. Don’t worry about the money. God will open doors for this. Just do it for the love of it. If it involves other people, give to them, as if your heart depended on it. You will begin to find deeper parts of yourself. You will begin to appreciate yourself, more. This self appreciation is an important step toward self esteem.
This is an excellent article! It makes a lot of sense. However, what makes me angry is how so many people want you to move up in your career so you make more money. If you love what you do, don’t pay attention to what the world says!
Yes, the world’s values are, often, against man’s best interest.
