I am going to get in trouble for this. Medusa is not politically correct. Medusa has a story that people want to change. Politically correct women don’t like how the Asteroid myths portray women. They want to change what is to what they want it to be.
I got kicked out of an Astrology study group because I won’t change asteroids or anything else to make them more palatable. This is what is wrong with our current society. It is built on lies *Sigh* Why did you get me off on that :D. Back to our subject. Medusa is another sad story. I wonder if all these myths are sad because life is sad. What do you think? I am digressing badly. Back to Medusa.
Medusa was beautiful and proud of her beauty. She was vain about it, but she was young and didn’t know any better than to flaunt her beauty in front of an older woman, whose beauty was waning. This was an error of youth more than an inherent character flaw in Medusa, in my opinion. At any rate, Medusa had beautiful hair. She made a point to show her beautiful hair to Athena. Medusa wanted to be admired for her beauty. I think it was as simple as that. I don’ t think there was anything nefarious in it.
Athena was jealous. That is the long and short of it. Athena destroyed Medusas beauty so that men would never look at Medusa again. Athena turned Medusa into a monster. The twist to the story is that Medusa turned her hatred on men. She lured men to her and then she killed them.
To bring Medusa into current times and a practical situation, I have seen Medusa play out in the charts of women. One woman had almost a classic Medusa story. She had Medusa conjunt the ASC. This woman was vain. She was not a bad person at all. However, she liked to strut her stuff. I noticed this and would compliment her. She seemed to be asking for compliments for her beauty. As I got to know her better, I saw that she hated the men who responded to her lures. She did lure. Then, she would demean the men that responded. She would call them names and put them down.
I did not say it but thought, “Why do you act all sexy and then get angry when men respond?” Well, I watched this drama but did not say anything. One day, I mentioned the asteroid Medusa. She had it conjunct her ASC. I have made Medusa asteroid picks. I will see someone who is flaunting her sexuality but then bites men when they respond. If you see this, run to check the Asteroid Medusa and I bet you have your man….. I mean, woman.
Hi Ami,
How does medusa work in a man’s chart? My boyfriend’s medusa is exactly conjunct my Moon in saggi and exactly opposite my Eros/his Psyche in Gemini.
You know what? I have a dear client, who has medusa conj his ASC. I had to tell him that I did not know how it would work in a man’s chart. Any ideas, Marion?
I have Medusa square Sun. Had an ex whose Mars conjuncted my Medusa. I think I’ve waxed quite poetically about this one before, but yes, it was quite… incendiary in the end. Recommend extreme caution if this turns up in synastry. Source: Prior experience.
Awww Would you like to re tell it again so we have it here, in the Medusa article?
This would have been my ex from college. Primarily a physical thing, and I should also point out that my asteroids Destinn, Messalina and Rudra were also conjunct my Medusa / her Mars.
Pretty much she was the ex-girlfriend of a former roommate of mine, and while they were still together we’d get along ok sometimes, but there are other times we could have killed one another figuratively (and sometimes I wonder about the literally part).
Somehow after they split we got together. Mainly physical, lasted about a month. Yes, she was my first. People who knew both of us in college were perplexed as to how the two of us even got involved with one another, but … yeah. I think half of them were just glad I seemingly had a bit of luck in the romance department and was out of their hair for awhile.
She decided to pursue someone else after that month. Again, that was mainly physical as well from what I know. He ended it with her, somehow later we have some more action (I’m guessing I was the rebound in a way both times, referring to the month-long and after the guy after me… same first name as her first ex I might add)… and after that semester she didn’t want to talk to me for awhile.
Let’s just say communication opened again off and on over the next several years, as is wont to happen between people when they wind up reconnecting. Some conversations went ok, others not so much. This went on for awhile.
Finally the final couple of phone calls I swear she exceeded the normal decibel capacity of a human. She was a little unhinged to begin with, but over time, I came to know just how much rage she could have. Thankfully it never went physical in the rage department, on either of our ends. In fact, she thought I was threatening her at one point (and at that point I was trying to make clear I DIDN’T want anything of the sort to happen).
We never contacted one another again. It’s actually one of the reasons I feel the urge to relocate as soon as possible. I have no idea if she still has my info and I’d rather not be around to find out if it goes that direction.
All things considered, Medusa has the potential to be cataclysmic.
How does Medusa play out when it is conjunct Venus in a woman’s chart?
What does it mean if asteroid Medusa and asteroid lie are exactly conjunct in Scorpio in the 12th? They are both at 8 degrees…my Pluto is at 6 degrees & mercury is at 11.
I like to see asteroids conj personal parts of the chart rather than each other as the former may be generational and all people born at a certain will have it so it is of lesser importance but not of no value, as everything in the chart has value.
if conjunct Mercury, your mind would think in terms of the Medusa myth. Maybe, you have jealousy from other woman due to your gifts. With Lie conj merc, I would wonder if it is easy for you to lie and you would have to struggle against it. What do you think? With Pluto, it can amp up asteroids and give them more power. If it is a weak asteroid, it will protect it and make it stronger like make Deja fight back. With Lie and Medusa, I think it would make them more powerful and hence more troublesome. Those are just some thoughts. What do you think, T?
Hey Amelia 🙂
When I read this article, I could kind of relate to Medusa but I don’t know how. It kind of describes me. When I checked in my chart, Medusa was conjunct my Saturn at the distance of about 2.5 degrees. Saturn is in aries, first house. What might this mean?
Thank you 🙂 x
You may struggle with the things of the Medusa myth i.e jealousy from women due to your beauty and may have had some bad things happen as a result. Also, Medusa has a despising of the attention of men and wanting to get back at them and at the same time attract them.
I have medusa connuncts Eros… Is it bad? Lol
Can you relate to the medusa strory? lets start with that, A
Hmmm, I can maybe relate to part of it. I like to chase men, not the other way around. So, when men show interest in me, I get cooled off. I thought this “men chaser” in me was attributed to my Eros in Aries. But, with medusa thrown into the mix, i feel like that might accentuate that aspect of my Eros:/
let me ask you this, do you kind of resent them that they are attracted to you, like scorn them?
I don’t think I’d resent them, but maybe scorn a little, but in a different sense. I’d scorn them because I don’t understand why they have fallen for me.
Because I don’t think I’m all that great or attractive, I’d scorn them for falling for me as a result of not being able to see unattractive sides of me.
Their inability to see through a person’s character is a turn off for me and that would make me want to kinda look down on them. Does that make sense…?
Yes, interesting A. Thank you!
That sounds like messed up, but what would Eros conjuncting it do? I’m almost afraid to ask, but I can’t help but wonder. Would it amp up the effect of Medusa?
