When I write anything, you can know that I experienced it. I talk from my heart and my soul. Why else would I expect you to listen? With that in mind, I have some new understanding of what it means to be a victim and what it means to overcome.
There seems no end to the people who want to pull your chain. I suppose this is the result of the fallen world. In Heaven, it will stop but not until. Hence, one needs to learn ways to deal with it. These ways can take you from a victim to a victor.
I think the first thing is to learn to act, not react. Many people have all sorts of agendas that have nothing to do with you. However, they would love to pull you into their whirlpool. You can decide into which whirlpools you will jump. This is a revelation and took me four years to discover.
I discovered it by repeatedly jumping into places I should not. I learn by failing. I learn by touching the stove. I don’t know about you but I seem to need to experience failures in order to learn most things.Through a wise mentor, I came to realize that I had the power not to react.
Secondly, don’t let yourself be controlled by the agendas of others. Set the agenda. You cannot control others but you can control how you will react . If you feel you are being swept away by a situation, pull back and establish your grounding. The hardest thing for me to understand was the level of hidden agendas in human interaction. I knew this as a child but lost it as I grew up. One must feel out what is happening under the surface and factor that into one’s reaction. Know one thing. Your feelings are more reliable than someone’s words to you. This took me many years to re-learn, too. I knew it as a child, as well. Talk is cheap is what I am saying.
The biggest factor from going from a victim to a victor is realizing that you have value. One must feel this down deep. Again, intellectual knowledge won’t take you far. It may take you a bit of the way but a true value for yourself will help to put things in perspective in a way that little else will.
How does one get this if one does not have it? God is the only way. When one realizes God’s love for oneself, one can start to feel it, too. However, it is a very slow process for those of us who were abused. I wish I could say that it happens fast. I wish it would but I have to be honest and say that changing one’s old ideas about oneself seems to take time. However, God is in the business of miracles, so why not become one? <3
That’s why I’ve always believed that the REAL MIRICLE is a changed heart and soul
through Jesus Christ. You pass from death to life! You are literally raised from the dead!
You are BORN AGAIN! What greater miracle is that?
YES, that is the miracle I mean, Lon.
Have a bit of a quibble Lady Ami, it involves the “love of God”.
When I say that it is not to say “God does not love” it is to say the Bible is completely written with Wisdom in mind, how to acquire it, what it looks like, how someone with it sounds when they great the World.
Just sort of blundering about with the “love of God” can lead one into very bad places, instead He offered Love and Wisdom, Divine Love to give his People hope and Wisdom to arm them amongst so many who are not good.
For example, when one mentions “agendas”, Proverbs the first 3 chapters exposes how they work and how people buy into them
I don’t agree, Padre. According to Hagin, my guru :D, the Born Again believer should focus on the Epistles. The NT is exemplified by the verse “God is Love”. That is his nature. The Born Again person has the nature of God living in him. The first fruit of the spirit is Love. Also, we are told that others will know the Christians by their love for one another.
“For the love of Christ CONSTRAINS us, because we realize that if One died for ALL,
ALL are dead!
Salvation through GRACE, NOT WORKS!
Yes, but one’s mind must be renewed from old thoughts such as a victim mentality. One must renew one’s mind. One’s spirit is already perfect when one is Born Again.
One gets the feeling that God baits us.
What is the meaning in the Lord’s prayer when it says: “Lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil?” Why would we have to ask a loving God NOT to lead us into
temptation?
There was a famous song called, “Lost In The Stars.” It’s about a star who was created
by God and got overwhelmed among other brighter stars. God makes a promise to this
tiny star that He will watch out for it in particular. But in the process of creation God seems
to forget His promise. So the little star ends up being “Lost in the Stars.”
All of God’s promises pertain to the future. To believe in God’s promises requires faith.
The faith itself can only come from God. “By grace are ye saved through FAITH and that
faith NOT from yourself, it is the GIFT from GOD.
No wonder failed Christians are WORSE then dead.
BETRIAL IS more the norm then the exception for human beings. Christ learned it.
As I have learned it!
Yes, it is, Lon!
