Retrograde Chiron

Chiron is named for the myth of the healer whose wound could never heal although he healed others from that wound. Some Astrologers like to say that the story was wrong and that Chiron could actually heal. I don’t like to add happy endings where there are none.I feel this detracts from the authenticity of Astrology.I respect Astrology too much to add or subtract from it.However, then one asks,”Is it a fait accompli that we must live with the Chiron wound forever?” Yes, I think so. However, relief can be had from using your wound to help others. I don’t think your wound will be healed by doing this. However,it will be relieved. I think this is the only way to find relief from it, too. Chiron is more House dependent than sign as it stays in the same sign for a time period in a way similar to the generational planets Neptune and Pluto. The sign is a factor but not as important as the house. We will look at both.

To find one’s deepest wounding which is Chiron’s theme, one must look at the house. Each house is a sphere of life. Since there are twelve houses, there are twelve spheres of life represented by the chart. The house in which Chiron resides has been a place of severe wounding. If you look within deeply, you will agree, I am quite sure. This fact is confirmed with each chart I am fortunate enough to read. I will not go over the domain of each house , as I have done so in many articles. I will just say that it would behoove one to study the house in which one’s Chiron is placed. Meditate on this house with all it’s ramifications. See if you can find more clarity about your life. We all have a Chiron . One is not alone in one’s struggles. The difference is the domain of one’s wounding, not it’s existence.

A Retrograde planet makes one recycle the nature of the planet. One must spiral within to such a degree that one finds one’s way out . The Direct planet does not have this quality, as one can go forward with the nature of the planet. However, the Retrograde native will have a much deeper understanding of the planets sphere by having to go within the recesses of the planet in order to come out. As such, the person with a Retrograde planet may have a unique intimacy with the domain of his Retrograde planet. It is important that he studies the nature of Retrograde planets as he will be different from the person with a Direct planet.

Take Mercury Retrograde, for example. The native learns in a different manner. He needs to understand each step before he can grasp the whole. This may make learning slower, but his retention and depth will be deeper, in my experience. I think Mercury Retrograde is a blessing although people differ. Each Retrograde works in the same way, in that the person must descend into the bowels of the planet and somehow make it his own before he can use it.The native with Retrograde planets does this as a matter of course. It is very natural for him. He only stops to look when he realizes that not everyone is the same . At that point, he can study Retrograde planets to try to understand his own nature. It is a worthwhile endeavor as one will have valuable insight into oneself.

Back to Chiron Retrograde. Just the thought of having to go within the bowels of Chiron in order to come out again has a sense of futility. One wants to renege on the whole thing as the thought of pain involved seems to hit one as a wave of humidity when one has stepped from air conditioning to the midday heat. However, with Retrograde planets there is no way out other than in. The native with a Retrograde Chiron will have an unusual relationship with pain. However, on the flip side, he will have a commensurate depth. Nothing is free in life or Astrology. If one wants to heal others from one’s pain, one must face one’s pain.It is a simple axiom but hard for the doing.

I did not address Chiron by sign. I am not that familiar with the workings of Chiron by sign. I suspect that the sign in which Chiron is placed is a hard energy for the native. Each of us has a Zodiac sign or two which rubs us the wrong way. Other factors such as Saturn may be involved but I suspect that Chiron may be a factor, too. I need to address this more as I do charts.

Is the only way to escape a Chiron retrograde is to help other people out? I do feel the urgent need to help everybody around me, but I am scared to do so quite a lot of times 😐

What do you have going on with your 6th house Afreen? I have seen this kind of reluctance to help with aspects from the 12th house to the 6th–in particular or any aspects to the 6th which are hard aspects.

Thank you for writing this article. I have studied Chiron, and recently “survived” a Chiron Return at the age of 54. Although it has taken me years of study, I still don’t completely have an understanding of Chiron, yet!

I have Retrograde Chiron in Aquarius in the 8th house, and 8th house cusp, and have “chronic” debt, and job loss of income issues. It doesn’t matter how much money I save or spend, donate, how much rent I pay, the issue is the same. Also, the circumstances surrounding the loss are usually abrupt, and weird. For example, I could have $10,000 saved, and suddenly, I would lose my job due to some “unfair” out of the blue situation — like recently, and it would take months to find another, so I would have to live off my savings, credit cards, and unemployment.

I have worked as a legal secretary for 27 years, and currently, but have not worked for 5 months — used up my savings in 2008 with the same usual circumstances — have not paid all of my rent for April 2012, and currently have $200 in the bank. Also, sometimes an usual situation will occur whereby I will get a temporary assignment at the last minute. But, it certainly hasn’t happened within 5 months.

I am preparing to pack up, and move back to Texas to live with my mother (who is AQUARIUS). Although, I realize that moving is not the answer, at least it’s cheaper than living in Los Angeles.

Oh, I didn’t mention that Saturn in Sag (retrograde) is in my 6th House (Sag cusp).

My birthday is June 10th, and I will be 55 years old. When will this end?

    Thank you.

I am so sorry to hear about that. I would need to do a private reading to address your concerns as they are deeper than what i can address here, Sweetheart. I do hope that things improve very, very soon for you! <3

I sent you an e mail, Luba dear. I can look at your chart with transits if you post it on my Forum. I can’t post everyone’s chart or I would not have time to be able to look at them and help people. If you can post it, it would be my pleasure to look, Friend. I am so sorry you are hurting <3
